Mission Statement
Breaking Chains Foundation & Ministries was set up by Joan Thompson
Rathe in 2002, a Professional Teacher, Christian Songwriter, Performer,
& Mother. She was inspired to create and integrate a more cohesive
system for servicing those in need of assistance and support under the
guidelines of Breaking Chains Mission Statement.Breaking Chains was born March 30 2002, as a memorial to Joan's daughter Melanie Rachelle Thompson, a young woman who suffered most of her life from Post Traumatic Syndrome, addictions, depression, abuse, rape and in the end a victim of a drug dealer who ended her young life. Through the establishment of this new facility and promoting with successful changes in the legal system for severe sentencing for drug dealers, Breaking Chains will perhaps prevent another fatality of life, and another family unspeakable grief. Breaking Chains overall strategy is to provide educational, administrative, medical, and religious support for local communities through our on site 24 hour, seven days a week support network, building programs to rebuild lives.
