Matthew 7: many will cry “Lord, Lord…” Saved. What does that mean? Saved is in the Bible – past, present and future.

PAST: Eph 2:8 – For by grace you have been saved through faith. Also Titus 3:4-5

FUTURE: Romans 10:9 – if you confess with your mouth (present tense) the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart (present tense) that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (future tense). And you shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake; but HE THAT SHALL ENDURE TO THE END, THE SAME SHALL BE SAVED. (Matt. 10:22; Matt. 24:13; Mark 13:13) More scriptures to show enduring to the end: Hebrews 9:28; Hebrews 3:6, 14; Rev. 2:10; I Pet. 1:3-5; I Pet. 1:13

PRESENT: 2 Cor. 2:14-15; 1 Cor. 15:1-2;
“You are saved” in the Greek is a progressive verb: continual work 1 Cor. 15:1-2 (NLT) says … Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters,[a] of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. 2 It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.

Christians are not called JUST to accept Christ; they are called to follow Christ who had a sinless walk of rejection by the world. We are called to conform to Christ, not conform Christ to us. Christians are called to community, not isolation. Christians are called to serve, not be served. Christian salvation is more than personal salvation.
What does it mean, those who are being saved? Read Romans 8:9-17. The witness here is not that YOU are saved. The term witness returns to the context of this passage. The Holy Spirit wants us to know we are Sons of God and Paul gives us two signs of how the Spirit bears witness to us. Do we live by the flesh or are we LEAD by the Spirit of God? If we live by the Spirit, we put to death the deeds of the body. (Rom. 8:13-14)
Vs. 13: If you live according to the flesh, you will die. This does not mean physically die, because we ALL die. This means hell. If you don’t put to death the deeds of the body, you go to hell. Therefore, the witness is we make war with OUR sin.

It is a WAR!!! You make WAR on sin!!!! If you make peace with lust, you will perish! If you make peace with lying, you will perish! If you make peace with drugs, you will perish! This is a war, and “the other side” is tricky. It will look like it’s trying to make a treaty, but any peace treaty will cause you to perish.

We should be afraid of falling short. If the Spirit of God is in us, sin is disgusting and we make war on the deeds of the body. We make war on sin and do not continue in sin as if everything is just fine.

The other sign is the Holy Spirit causes us to well up and cry Abba Father (Rom. 8:15). We desire to draw close to the Father.

Do you want God? Do you really desire God? Nine ladies came up front to give their lives to God.
