Pastor Kevin Humphery spoke to the women on the subject on of “The Power of Prayer”. Acts 1:14 and Acts 2:1-4 show that prayer is the channel to God’s Heart and will. He will always answer prayers, but in His time and with His understanding of our true needs. The prayers of others give us strength and the chance to turn back to God.
Why pray? Matthew 26:41 tells us that prayer protects us and our families against temptations. Temptations feel uniquely personal, but 1 Corinthians 10:13 reminds us that every temptation is shared by many others. Our choice to YIELD to temptation or PERSEVERE in faith determines our path in life. God promises us that we will NEVER face a temptation that HE will not give us a way to conquer if we CHOOSE God’s “out”. Luke 22:31-32 tells us that Jesus himself PRAYED that our faith would not fail when tempted by the “principalities and powers” that seek to distract us. WHEN we fail and ask for help ( Jesus says “When you have RETURNED to me”), we will be strengthened in our FAITH and will be responsible to strengthen our BROTHERS/SISTERS” through the testimony of our trial and deliverance. When Peter denied Christ, he did not have the HOLY SPIRIT and INTERCESSION of Jesus to help him “return”…WE DO!

1 Samuel 1 tells the story of a woman named Hannah who was dearly loved by her husband but had no children and was, therefore, mocked by his second – and fertile – wife. No matter how much love and attention her husband lavished on her, Hannah’s heart was broken and she wept and PRAYED in anguish and supplication in the temple every year. She made a VOW to RETURN any son she was given BACK to God. Vows involve a contract – “If this…then that.” How many times did we make a promise to God when consequences were too painful but broke our promise. God heard and honored Hannah’s HEARTFELT, RELENTLESS, and CONSTANT prayer and unlocked her womb. She gave birth to Samuel and gave him to service in the temple as a small child with joy and thankfulness. Due to her faithfulness, the entire nation of Israel was blessed.

God called Samuel in the middle of the night 3 times. The first 2 times, the young Samuel ran to Eli asking for guidance. Eli told to give himself over to God’s will. Samuel anointed the first King of Israel, Saul, and then King David.

Many times in life you will be persecuted and beaten emotionally, mentally, and maybe even physically. In the depths of your misery, PRAY from the depths of your need. THANK God for the blessing that is coming! CHANGE comes from the inside and is DEMONSTRATED on the outside.

After being beaten, chained and thrown in the bottom of a prison, Paul and Silas sang and praised God until the walls shook and the cells opened. THEN preached and all the prisoners remained in their cells. The “warden”, all his family, and an unknown number of prisoners were saved as a result. How will God use our lives as an example?

Many women came forward to pray for strength and for specific needs in their life.
