With a smile on her face and words of praise on her lips, Pastor Elizabeth Smith led 10 men (2 new) in song. The men prayed, sang, and clapped with joy.

Sheila Stover signed to the song "East from the West."

"Can you be saved and not have any power?" was the question with which Pastor Kevin Humphery opened his sermon from Revelations 12:10-11.

"Can you be saved and not have any power?" was the question with which Pastor Kevin Humphery opened his sermon from Revelations 12:10-11. The challenges facing an inmate newly released from prison DEMAND a powerful response from God in the form of the Holy Spirit to guide and protect a frightened soul.

The STRENGTH of God's plan to save us, guide us and protect us from a defeated Enemy is clear in verse 10, so WHY are we afraid? Clearly as we see in verse 11, Satan does not have the power to hurt us, BUT our poor choices in friends, coping mechanisms, and leaders WILL cause us to falter and fail. IF we do not grab hold of the Holy Spirit's power, HOW can we help our families who need us to forge a new path and a new future by example - OUR LIVING TESTIMONY of faith through adversity.

Hebrews 11:6-13 tells the stories of people like Noah and Abraham who were afraid - just like we are - but FAITH stepped in and brought belief that allowed them to act according to God's will. Romans 5:8 assures us that all we have to do is ACCEPT the gift of Christ's blood sacrifice to be JUSTIFIED. If we let our past errors defeat us, we cast aside the gift of grace. BECAUSE of our forgiven failures, we may be the only person from which some people will accept God's Word.

After reading Hebrews 11:1-6, Kevin asked, "How can we explain HOPE that we cannot see?" - by the EVIDENCE of God changing our lives and character to be more in line with HIS CALL/PURPOSE for our lives. Romans 8:28 promises goodness in our lives when we obey His Word.
We have the opportunity to leave a legacy of faith in our family even after we die by washing ourselves in the Blood of Forgiveness. Will we do so?

Kevin prayed with the men as a group and then prayed with some individually. It was an amazing service!
